Edge protection rings are a specialized form of angle rings or caps, designed specifically to protect the edges of windings in power transformers. These components play a vital role in preventing mechanical damage and ensuring long-term insulation integrity, particularly at critical contact points within the transformer.

Weidmann manufactures edge protection rings using our proprietary, shapeable cellulose-based Transformerboard. This high-quality material enables cost-efficient production through forming processes applied to flat sheet stock, offering both reliability and affordability.

While the forming method is best suited to a defined range of flange and collar sizes, it accommodates edge radii from 1.0 mm to 6.0 mm – providing flexibility for various transformer design requirements. The result is a durable, precisely formed component that enhances protection and extends the service life of the transformer winding assembly.
